CONCEPT OF IJTEHAD IN THE EYE OF ALLAMA IQBAL (A RESEARCH STUDY)

Abstract

Universe is rather dynamic than static. There is a change in life's description every moment. Therefore it is necessary for the success of any society that they must have some eternal principles established, on which they can build their collective life. So that the principles can keep their foothold strong in the ever changing world. The principles should be instinctive and eternal in their application .They should have the ability to present them with varying times and help in solving problems of new age in a more consistent manner. Islam considers both diversity and stability as the essence of life. Natural changes and revolutions are symbols and marks of God according the Quran. The nature of Islam is dynamic and changing and it has the capability to find answers to questions that arise in changing situations and solve them because the teachings of prophet (P.B.U.H) are present as guiding principles until the last day of judgement. In Islam, the principle of Ijtehad is the only way through which the everlasting principles of Islam can be substituted on the changing conditions, in order to solve the problems faced by the period of time; there is a need of Ijtehad in every period which cannot be denied
