Abstract

If a person's nature is alive and they possess the ability to think and reflect, a single sentence is enough to awaken and stir them. However, if a person's nature is dead, even hundreds of speeches or thousands of statements would be insufficient to wake them. Wealth and riches are an excellent means and cause for fulfilling human needs because, by nature, humans have an inherent love for wealth. Islam, being a natural religion, has specifically organized and guided how to earn wealth through lawful means, explaining its rules and identifying unlawful ways. As Allah Almighty says in the Quran:

"O you who have believed, do not consume interest, doubled and multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful." (130 Surah Aal-e-Imran)

For the development of the individual, family, society, and the Ummah, earning is essential, and to earn, work is necessary. No work, whether lawful or unlawful, ethical or unethical, can be done without engaging with others. Islam maintains a balance between the personal property of an individual and the needs of society, promoting closeness, affection, and peace among people. Therefore, an individual is granted the right to earn lawful income and grow their wealth, not through unlawful means. Usury is a great sin, so widespread now that it has become a major and rampant issue in this age. It is extremely unfortunate that because of the widespread nature of this heinous crime, its impact on hearts has diminished. People have become so accustomed to it that they no longer reject it. In such an era, where falsehood has become truth, people criticize those who prohibit the sinful act of usury. In our economic life, usury has become so ingrained that people have started to regard this economic system as a necessary component. Now, large institutions have been established by basing every economic scheme on usury.
