Literary services of Prominent Women Scholars of Islam in the field of Qur’anic Sciences: An Introduction and historical perspective analysis

Abstract

This research paper elucidates an introductory and historical review of the literary services of Muslim women scholars in the three main fields of Qur’anic sciences i.e., the sciences of al-Tafseer, the sciences of hadith and Islamic jurisprudence.The information regarding rights given to women by law and Shari’ah in Islam, other Semitic and non-Semitic religions and laws are completely devoid of them. If tragically, on one side this cultural and civilizational aspect was not preserved by Muslim rulers and scholars, on the other side, orientalists willfully ignored to malign islam.and kept the west in dark. Ummahat ul  Mo’mineen Ayesha, ume salama, Mamona, wives of the holy prophet, were pioneering  women scholars,that right in the life time of Muhammad (pbuh). As Many as seventeen women are said to be literate and committed to reading and writing in Madina, of home Umme abdurahman binte Hassan bin thabit was scholar women. Zubaida binte ja’far,the beloved wife of Khalifa Haroon ur Rashid,had an obsession to serve the scholars and their disciples, and promoted Islamic schools and Universities.Women like Fatima bint e Muhammad and Fatima alfihri are said to be shining examples from Islamic history, that rose to the occasion. Fatima binte Muhammad was a Muftya and Faqiha. Similarly Fatima Alfihri, established the first university in the world, as per Unesco and Guniness book of world record.Islam gave women the right to trusteeship and promulgate fatwa on numerous social issues. Women's writings and compilations were considered reliable. It has provided legal and Shari’ah protection to women.
