Abstract

The Arab Merchants who traded with India years after years had now brought a new faith with them. This new faith was well-received by South India. Muslims were allowed to build mosques, Intermarry with the Indians, and very soon an Indian-Arab community came into being. Early in the 9th century, Muslim missionaries gained a notable convert from South Indian region, The King of Malabar. There is much historical evidences to show that Arabs and Muslims interacted with Indian from the very early day of Islam or even before the arrived of Islam in Arab region.. According to History of Cheraman Masjid, and as verified by various narratives, One night while out for a walk in his palace the King, Cheraman Perumal Tajuddin, witnessed the splitting of the moon from his palace roof. Months later, on meeting Malik Deenar, a companion of Prophet Muhammad who had travelled with the the Arabian Merchants, he asked about what he had seen. Upon finding the truth behind this miracle he decided to travel towards Arab for meeting the Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). On doing so, he converted to Islam at the hand of Prophet Muhammad. However, on his journey back to India he fell ill and died in Jordan (Omaan) where his grave still remains. Apart from Cheraman Juma Masjid, Malik Deenar also constructed many mosques in “Mangloor”. Due to this dedication of Muslims Arabic language has deeply influenced Kerala, as seen present in Kerala's local language. However, Sindh was the first region to be conquered and properly established by Muslims, the impact of Islam on other parts of India dates back to the time of Prophet Muhammad. History is filled with many such stories of Islamic influence in the Indian continent from early times. Islam spread without violence. History proves Indians converted to Islam on free will, inspired by efforts of Arab Muslim travelers and prominent Indian Muslims. Among many significant stories from those early times, some stand out for their uniqueness. Such as, about a thousand years ago, an Indian emperor ordered to have The Holy Quran translated into Hindi, which was recited to him daily. Similarly, after accepting Islam a King of Tibet state gave his throne, made of gold, to Mamoon Rashid as a gift for Kabaa. These historic events have been validated and recorded by various wellknown travelers and writers of Arab and the world of Islam. Moreover, the establishment of Islamic empire in Delhi is considered historically as the golden age for India, and soon Dehli emerged as the biggest city of Muslim world. Dedication of Indian Muslims is evident in incredible works of Tafseer, Hadith, and Fiqh To conclude, vast region of Indian subcontinent has always held, and still holds, interest and favour of infamous Muffasseren , Muhaddaseen and fuqaha of the Muslim world. They have written a great deal about Islamic influences and establishment is Muslims in the Indian region.
