STUDY ABOUT RIGHTS AND DUTIES OF ZIMMES IN ISLAM

Abstract

In this article, we discussed about the rights given to zimmi in Islam. Zimmi means that non-Muslims are allowed to remain obedient to Islam by accepting the protection of Islamic state and it's laws only by liberating amnesty, worship and ethics and subordinate to Islam in political, economical and social affairs.There are three types of Zimmis. First ,those who are subjected to Islamic government through a treaty. Secondly, those who have won by sword.The third type of zimmi that have not been conquered nor have a regular contract. Despite the safety of property, life , sanctity of this party,Islamic taxation cannot tax in addition to fix tax and can't be compelled for military services nor other government services.In Islamic state the Muslims will give equal rights to zimmi and will provide protection of religious freedom,life and all rights,these are the teachings of Quran and Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H).Islam is the religion of peace and have tolerance about other religionswhich is archetypal and utopian in humanity.But today we are counted in a powerful nation that is not ready to give religious tolerance to anyone.At present, minorities are being tortured everywhere in the world.In Islam, rights will be given to the zimmi if they are enforced.
