Abstract

In the present era, an objection is frequently raised against Islam, claiming that it has not granted any rights to women, nor has it given them freedom, but instead, it has subjugated and oppressed them under male authority. This objection has been primarily raised by Christian Orientalists, leading to a societal environment where discussions about women's freedom and rights are widespread. Due to a general lack of knowledge, it has become essential today to address these concerns by conducting a comparative analysis of Christianity and Islam. In light of the Seerah (Prophet's life) and history, reasoned responses must be provided, highlighting that these objections stem from religious bias and animosity. The truth is that Islam has given women rights based on their dignity and respect, not to suppress or oppress them. Islam granted women the right to education, a share in inheritance, the right to choose in marriage, and the freedom to engage in business. These rights were provided over 1400 years ago, while in many other social systems, women either received these rights much later or are still struggling to attain them.

On the contrary, in Western society, women are often objectified under the guise of freedom, where their value is frequently judged based on physical appearance. The challenge today is to educate people about the true teachings of Islam and dispel the misconceptions and prejudices being spread about it. Islam not only honors women but also safeguards their rights completely. Moreover, in an Islamic society, a woman's status is determined by her character and abilities, not by superficial standards. Islam bestows great honor and respect upon women in their roles as mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives, a reverence that is rarely seen in other civilizations.
